Yes! Dig out that can of hairspray and get ready for a unique history lesson, back to the 80’s!
Several tweeters came up with the idea to share pictures of what they looked like back in the 80’s via changing their avatars. It caught on rather quickly!
I realized that someone close to the age of my daughters would have been quite young during the eighties, or maybe not even born yet. That’s why I am excited that Miss Jocelyn, from A Pondering Heart has encouraged our friends in the blogosphere to climb on board the 80’s train and share more fun photos! I’m looking forward to seeing all of their sweet eighties pictures too!

Yep, that’s a photo of yours truly from 1986!
I enjoyed the 80’s very much. The reasons are many. It could be that I was a newlywed, excited
about the path and the opportunities that lay before me. It was also the time of the Reagan Revolution.
In my own personal affairs, it was a time of transformation. The Lord was drawing me closer to Himself in a number of wonderful ways! One of those had been through Christian music and song. Christian bands such as; Degarmo & Key, Russ Taff, Stryper, David and the Giants & White Heart, penetrated deep into my heart with an awesome message.
One of my favorites by the band WhiteHeart is entitled Maybe Today. I’ve clipped in the song and lyrics if you’d like to give it a listen.
I watched the news today in silence,
Looks like the world is spinning out of control,
Reality seems so cold,
Do I hear echoes of Isaiah?
All the prophesies are coming to one place,
Maybe it’s time, The end’s in sight,
Why search the skies, I should be searching inside.
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, That’s not the question for me,
No matter what time, I’m gonna follow the keeper of all eternity.
Heaven will always be there waiting,
The promise holds, Our Lord will return,
We know that time will surely come,
Until it does so much work must be done.
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, That’s not the question for me,
No matter what time, I’m gonna follow the keeper of all eternity.
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, That’s not the question for me,
No matter what cost, I’m gonna follow the keeper of all eternity,
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, That’s not the question for me,
No matter what cost, I’m gonna follow the keeper of all eternity.
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, No matter what cost, I’m gonna follow.
Maybe today, maybe tomorrow.
On the road with our music ministry, we still perform some of these great 80’s CCM songs at various Christian coffeehouses.
Thank you Miss Jocelyn for encouraging us to reflect upon an era past! I’m thankful for a new perspective that the Lord has placed within me. Whether a history lesson or remembering days gone by in my own life, I can honestly say that He’s taught me to see the good in each and every decade. As I remember the struggles and mountain top times, I see powerful lessons I would not have learned any other way.
Seeing His hand through all of HIS-STORY is the greatest lesson of all!

Hmmm…the 80s are a blur to me. I remember the 60s, 70s, and 90s better. I think we were just so downright poor, had little kids, and trying to figure out how to raise them. And animals. Don’t forget the animals.

That picture looks like half the girls in my youthgroup back in 1986 that I followed around like a puppydog. I still have a soft spot for the 80’s christian rock. Steve camp whiteheart AD and Steve taylor are all on my mp3 player. now I put out a indie Christian Music podcast

Newlywed, huh? I was in high school. In fact, I didn’t graduate until the early 90s.
But the little twitter event sure triggered enough reminiscing, didn’t it?

I love the 80s! Even though I was born towards the end of the decade. I believe 80s songs are the best and I wish I was around to experience them when they came out.
